AUGUSTA, Ga. --
Riding the momentum of a 10-game winning streak, Augusta State moved up to No. 16 on Tuesday, Feb. 6 in the latest NABC Top 25 poll.
The Jaguars, off to their second-best start in school history (18-3) and their best-ever start in Peach Belt Conference play (10-0), earned their first national ranking in 30 seasons last week on Jan. 31 when they came in at No. 21.
ASU’s appearance in the national rankings marked the ninth time in program history that the Jags cracked the poll. ASU’s last national ranking was 12th in the Feb. 22, 1978 poll. During that season, the Jags were ranked as high as seventh and appeared in the poll for four weeks. ASU was also ranked four times during the 1969-70 season.
ASU hosts 10th-ranked Clayton State on Wednesday, Feb. 7 in Christenberry Fieldhouse in a battle of the PBC’s South Division’s top two teams at 7:30 p.m. The contest will mark the first-ever matchup between a pair of top-25 teams in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
