AUGUSTA, Ga. --
Augusta State will make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2001-02 season and will host the South Atlantic Regional March 10, 11 and 13 in Christenberry Fieldhouse, the NCAA announced Sunday night.
The Jaguars (23-6) learned of their postseason fate during a Selection Show Party in a packed Jaguar Student Activities Center Ballroom on ASU’s Walton Way campus.
The Jaguars, regular-season champions of the Peach Belt Conference and a PBC Tournament semifinalist, will take on Elizabeth City State. The Vikings captured the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament title with a 63-60 victory over top-seeded Virginia Union Saturday night in Charlotte, N.C.
Game times for Saturday’s four first-round NCAA Tournament games are 12:00, 2:30, 6:00 and 8:30 p.m.
Top-seeded ASU will face No. 8 Elizabeth City State while No. 4 seed Armstrong Atlantic State will match up with No. 5 Wingate. No. 3 seed Clayton State will meet No. 6 Catawba and No. 2 Virginia Union, last year’s NCAA runnerup, will square off with No. 7 Lander, the Peach Belt Conference Tournament champion.
