AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Sixth-ranked Augusta State jumped out to a 48-18 halftime lead and was never seriously threatened, cruising past Johnson C. Smith 93-70 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference tilt at Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The contest marked the home opener for ASU, which moved to 3-0 with the win, while the Golden Bulls dropped to 2-1. The victory improved the Jaguars to 32-7 all-time at home under fourth-year head coach Dip Metress.

Junior center Garret Siler posted his second double-double in three games with 17 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Senior AJ Bowman and sophomore Ben Madgen booked 16 and 15 points, respectively, while senior Demetrius Howard and freshman Caleb Brown accounted for 11 and 10 points each off the bench.

Maurice Hooper managed a game-high 20 points for JCSU and James Dillard had 17.

JCSU owned the lead for the first 1:50 of the game before a Madgen 3-pointer keyed a 14-0 run that put ASU ahead to stay. A 19-0 spurt over the final 7:20 gave the Jaguars a 30-point halftime advantage, as they shot 60 percent in the first half and limited the Golden Bulls to just 26 percent shooting from the field.

ASU led by as much as 32 on a Bowman layup 22 seconds into the second half and never let its lead slip below 21 the rest of the way.

The Jags travel to Aiken, S.C., to meet undefeated USC Aiken on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the new USCA Convocation Center.
