Jaguars headed to UNCP for Wednesday conference matchup

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State dropped from No. 12 to No. 22 in the nation in the latest NABC/Coaches poll, released Tuesday afternoon from the NABC headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.

The ranking marks the sixth straight week this season in which the Jaguars have appeared in the national rankings. The Jags are one of two Peach Belt Conference teams to appear in the poll. USC Aiken jumped into the top 10, landing at No. 8 on the strength of its 10-1 start.

ASU began the season ranked sixth before moving as high as No. 5. After spending two weeks at No. 14, the Jags improved to No. 12 in the last national poll prior to the holidays.

Since returning from the Christmas break, ASU lost 89-75 at Tampa on Saturday, Dec. 29 before bouncing back with a 70-60 Peach Belt Conference victory over Clayton State on Saturday, Jan. 5 in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The Jaguars take a 7-3 overall record and a 2-1 mark in league play to Pembroke, N.C., on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. conference matchup with UNC Pembroke.
