Augusta State handed UNC Pembroke a 72-49 loss Wednesday night in Peach Belt Conference action at the Jones Center.
With the victory, the 22nd-ranked Jaguars improved to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in the PBC. The loss dropped the Braves to 6-5 overall and 1-3 in the league. The win also marked ASU’s 10th straight in the series with UNCP.
Paced by senior forward and reigning PBC Player-of-the-Week Tyrekus “AJ” Bowman, three Jaguars scored in double figures. Bowman tallied 16 points, eight rebounds and four steals, recording his 31st straight double-digit scoring effort.
Junior Garret Siler registered 15 points while Ben Madgen booked 13 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore point guard Daniel Dixon handed out a season-high nine assists and snagged six steals.
The Jaguars finished the night shooting 54.5 percent from the floor while holding UNCP to just 36 percent from the field. ASU outrebounded the Braves 37-22.
ASU returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 12 with a key conference road game in Savannah, Ga., vs. Armstrong Atlantic State at 7:30 p.m.
