ASU Moves Up In Poll
No. 13 Jaguars take five-game winning streak on the road Wednesday

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State inched closer towards a return to the Top 10 when the Jaguars improved five spots to No. 13 in the nation in the latest NABC/Coaches poll, released late Tuesday afternoon.

The ranking marks the eighth consecutive week this season in which the Jags have appeared in the national poll. They are one of two Peach Belt Conference teams to appear in the poll, with USC Aiken cracking the top five at No. 5.

Votes for the national poll are due into the NABC national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., on Monday and do not reflect ASU’s 75-59 victory Monday night over USC Aiken in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

The Jags began the season ranked sixth before moving as high as No. 5. After spending two weeks at No. 14, they improved to No. 12 in the last national poll prior to the holidays. ASU dropped to No. 22 after a loss at Tampa, then moved back inside the top 20 to 18th last week.

The Jags (11-3, 6-1 PBC) take a five-game winning streak on the road Wednesday when they travel to Francis Marion for a 7:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference contest.

The Patriots are hosting their first-ever whiteout at Smith University Center. Both the ASU women’s and men’s games can be heard live on the internet. To access the live webcast, visit www.aug.edu/athletics  or www.fmarion.edu/sports/
