Augusta State senior forward Tyrekus “AJ” Bowman poured in a game-high 28 points Wednesday night to lead the Jaguars to a 77-68 Peach Belt Conference victory over Francis Marion in the Smith University Center.
The victory was the sixth straight and third in the last seven days for 13th-ranked ASU, which improved to 12-3 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
Bowman, who snagged 12 rebounds and blocked four shots for his third double-double of the season, was one of five Jaguars in double figures. Ben Madgen booked 14 points, Demetrius Howard notched 12 and Garret Siler and Steve Smith managed 11 each.
Bowman has now scored in double figures in 35 straight games dating back to last season, while Madgen extended his own double-digit scoring streak to 17.
Houston Power led the Patriots (8-6, 2-5 PBC) with 13 points and Kevin Clark added 12 points, nailing four 3-pointers.
ASU shot 51.1 percent from the field and outrebounded the Patriots 37-26. The Jaguars led 43-29 at the half and shot 25-of-38 at the charity stripe, compared to just 7-of-11 by the Patriots.
ASU takes on Georgia Southwestern on Saturday, Jan. 26 in Americus, Ga., at 4:00 p.m. The Jags return home to host North Georgia on Monday, Jan. 28 in Christenberry Fieldhouse at 7:30 p.m.
