AMERICUS, Ga. -- Augusta State junior center Garret Siler scored a career-high 31 points to pace the Jaguars to a 95-88 victory at Georgia Southwestern in a Peach Belt Conference barnburner Saturday afternoon in the Storm Dome.

The victory was the seventh straight and fourth in the last 10 days for 13th-ranked ASU, which improved to 13-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play. ASU set a season high in points scored, besting its 93-point effort vs. Johnson C. Smith on Nov. 24.

Siler, who also notched a game-high eight rebounds and four blocked shots, established a new career high for points scored, clipping his previous best of 30 vs. Florida Southern on Nov. 17. Senior forward Tyrekus “AJ” Bowman tallied 20 points and eight rebounds, while senior guard Demetrius Howard had 12 points on four 3-pointers and Ben Madgen added 10.

Steve Smith added eight points and Caleb Brown and Daniel Dixon managed six each, with Dixon chipping in five assists.

Anthony Sargent sparked Georgia Southwestern with 38 points (6-11, 3-7), including 10 3-pointers, and Aaron Wyatt booked 25 for the Hurricanes.

ASU shot 55.7 percent from the field (34-of-61), while the Hurricanes stayed in the game with their best 3-point shooting effort of the season. GSW made 14-of-29 attempts from long range, while the Jags nailed 9-of-20 from behind the arch.

The contest featured seven ties and 13 lead changes. The Jags, who led 44-40 at halftime, were up by seven with a minute left after Bowman nailed a free throw to compete a 3-point play. The Hurricanes answered by banking in a trey to cut their deficit to four. After a technical foul on GSW, Madgen connected on six free throws in the final 30 seconds for the final margin.

The Jaguars play host to North Georgia on Monday, Jan. 28 in Christenberry Fieldhouse at 7:30 p.m.
