AUGUSTA, Ga. --
Augusta State slipped to No. 16 in the latest NABC/Division II Coaches Poll, released late Tuesday afternoon from the NABC national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.
The ranking marks the 10th consecutive week this season in which the Jags have appeared in the national poll. They are one of two Peach Belt Conference teams to appear in the poll, with USC Aiken ahead of the Jaguars at No. 7.
With the ranking, ASU (15-4, 10-2 PBC) has appeared in the national rankings for over an entire calendar year. The Jags are one of only seven teams in the current national rankings able to stake that claim.
Votes for the national poll are due into the NABC national headquarters on Monday and do not reflect ASU’s 68-65 victory over Columbus State on Monday night.
The Jags began the season ranked sixth before moving as high as No. 5. After spending two weeks at No. 14, they improved to No. 12 in the last national poll prior to the holidays. ASU dropped to No. 22 after a loss at Tampa, moved back inside the top 20 to 18th and improved to 13th and then jumped up to 10th last week.
ASU hosts UNC Pembroke in a PBC doubleheader on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively, in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
