AUGUSTA,
Ga. --
Augusta State improved from No. 16 to No. 12 in the latest NABC/Division II Coaches Poll, released late Tuesday afternoon from the NABC national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.
The ranking marks the 11th consecutive week this season in which the Jags have appeared in the national poll. They are one of two Peach Belt Conference teams to appear in the poll, with USC Aiken ahead of the Jaguars at No. 6.
With the ranking, ASU has appeared in the national rankings for over an entire calendar year. The Jags are one of only six teams in the current national rankings able to stake that claim.
The Jags began the season ranked sixth before moving as high as No. 5. After spending two weeks at No. 14, they improved to No. 12 in the last national poll prior to the holidays. ASU dropped to No. 22 after a loss at Tampa, moved back inside the top 20 to 18th and improved to 13th and then jumped up to 10th two weeks ago before falling to No. 16 last week.
ASU hits the road on Wednesday, Feb. 13, traveling to Greenwood, S.C., to face Lander at 7:30 p.m. in Finis Horne Arena.
