AUGUSTA,
Ga. --
Augusta State jumped from No. 12 to back inside the top 10 in the latest NABC/Division II Coaches Poll, released late Tuesday afternoon from the NABC national headquarters in Kansas City, Mo.
The Jaguars, currently in the midst of a six-game winning streak, improved four spots from No. 12 to No. 8 in the nation. The ranking marks the 12th consecutive week this season in which the Jags have appeared in the national poll. They are one of two Peach Belt Conference teams to appear in the poll, with USC Aiken just ahead of the Jags at No. 5.
With the ranking, ASU has appeared in the national rankings for over an entire calendar year. The Jags are one of only five teams in the current national rankings able to stake that claim.
ASU began the season ranked sixth before moving as high as No. 5. After spending two weeks at No. 14, the Jags improved to No. 12 in the last national poll prior to the holidays. ASU dropped to No. 22 after a loss at Tampa, moved back inside the top 20 to 18th and improved to 13th and then jumped up to 10th three weeks ago. The Jags fell to No. 16 two weeks ago before moving back up the poll to No. 12 last week.
ASU hosts Francis Marion in a PBC matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
