ASU No. 2 In Final Region Poll
Jaguars open play in PBC Tournament Friday afternoon

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State slipped to No. 2 in the sixth and final South Atlantic Region poll of the 2007-08 season, released Wednesday afternoon by the NCAA.

USC Aiken, ranked second behind the Jaguars in the first five polls, overtook ASU and moved into the top spot in the region rankings. The Pacers posted a 2-0 record last week, while the Jags went 1-1 during the final week of the regular season.

The Jags take a 22-5 overall record into this weekend’s Peach Belt Conference Tournament at the USCA Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C. ASU will play at 1:00 p.m. Friday afternoon against the winner of Wednesday’s first-round matchup between No. 7 Clayton State and No. 10 UNC Pembroke.
