AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State will play host to its second straight NCAA Tournament this weekend when the Jaguars compete in the Division II South Atlantic Regional in Christenberry Fieldhouse.

ASU, the Peach Belt Conference regular-season runnerup, is making its fourth trip to the Big Dance in the last eight years. The Jags finished the regular season with a 22-5 record and entered the Peach Belt Conference as the 10th-ranked team in the nation.

The Jags (22-6) will open tourney play as the regional’s No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 Johnson C. Smith on Saturday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m. The Golden Bulls captured the CIAA Tournament title and are one of two CIAA teams in the field. ASU defeated JCSU 93-70 in the home opener at Christenberry Fieldhouse on Nov. 24, 2007.

The South Atlantic Regional will consist of four sessions and include seven games over a four-day stretch. Wingate (23-6), the No. 3 seed, and sixth-seeded Catawba (19-11) will tip off quarterfinal play at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. At 2:30 p.m., the Jags and JCSU will meet in the second game of session one.

Top-seeded USC Aiken (27-3) and No. 8 Clayton State (17-14) will meet for the fourth time this season in the first game of the second session at 6 p.m. before No. 4 Virginia Union (22-7) and No. 5 seed Lenoir-Rhyne (22-6) wrap up the first day’s play at 8:30 p.m.

Advance ticket sales -- all tickets are $10 and are general admission -- will be on sale beginning Tuesday, March 11 in the ASU ticket office and will be on sale from 12 noon to 5:00 p.m. Children ages two and under will be admitted free.
