Augusta State kicks off the 2010-11 season this weekend when the second-ranked
Jaguars tee it up in the fifth annual Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini
Invitational at Olympia Fields (Ill.) Country Club.
Live scoring will be available at
www.aug.edu/athletics as well as
www.golfstat.com. The three-day, 54-hole event begins Friday morning at
9:00 a.m. EDT.

ASU Men's Golf earns highest
preseason ranking ever

AUGUSTA, Ga.-- The Augusta State men's golf team has been
ranked No. 2 in the nation in the Golfweek magazine preseason poll. The
preseason ranking is the highest ever in the history of the Jaguar men's golf
program, and the second top-five ranking for the Jags this preseason.
The defending national champion Jaguars, who return all five starters from their
victory at the NCAA Championships at The Honors Course in June, were recently
tabbed No. 3 in the Golf World magazine/Coaches preseason poll.

AUGUSTA,
Ga.-- The Augusta State men’s golf team has been ranked No. 3 in the nation
by Golf World magazine in the publication’s preseason poll. The preseason
ranking is the highest ever in the history of the Jaguar men’s golf program.
The defending national champion Jaguars, who return all five starters from their
victory at the NCAA Championships at The Honors Course in June, received the
second-most first place votes (seven) behind only Oklahoma State.

PLACE, Wash.-- Augusta State’s Carter Newman and Patrick Reed were each
ousted from the 112th U.S. Amateur Thursday in the Round of 32 of match play at
Chambers Bay.
The duo was knocked out of America’s oldest amateur championship in very
different ways.
Illinois’ Scott Langley, the medalist at June’s NCAA Championships and the low
amateur in the U.S. Open, outlasted ASU junior Patrick Reed in what Golfweek
magazine described an epic match that went 19 holes.
