Men's golf improves four spots in
Golfweek rankings

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State men’s golf
squad moved up into the top five Sunday in the first
Golfweek magazine updated national rankings of the
Spring, 2010 season.
The Jaguars, who posted four top-six finishes and took
fourth or better in each their last three events,
finished the Fall, 2009 campaign ranked No. 9 by both
Golfweek magazine and Golfstat.
ASU began the 2009-10 season in September with a
10th-place finish at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini
Invitational and followed with a sixth-place showing in
the prestigious Gary Koch Intercollegiate.

Sophomore claims playoff win at
Ocean Forest Golf Club

SEA ISLAND, Ga. -- Augusta State’s Patrick
Reed parred the first playoff hole Sunday afternoon to
capture the Jones Cup Invitational at Ocean Forest Golf
Club.
A sophomore from Augusta, Reed parred the last six holes
in regulation to earn a spot in the playoff. Victor
Dubuisson of Mougins, France, held a three-shot lead
with five holes to play but bogeyed three of his last
four holes.

ASU men's golf squad cracks top 20
in third national poll

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State men’s golf
squad earned its third top-20 national ranking recently
when the Jaguars landed at No. 11 in the final Golf
World/Nike Golf Coaches’ Poll of the fall season.
The Jaguars, who posted four top-six finishes and
took fourth or better in each their last three events,
were ranked No. 9 by both Golfweek magazine and by
Golfstat.

Duo Advances At Q School
Turner wins Texas qualifying site,
Manning third in Florida

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Former Augusta State
All-Americans Emmett Turner and Major Manning
successfully advanced through the second stage of the
PGA Tour’s Qualifying Tournament Saturday.
Turner posted a wire-to-wire victory in the Kingwood,
Texas qualifying site at Deerwood Golf Club. He fired
rounds of 68-67-67-71 for a 15-under 273 total and
two-shot victory over former PGA Tour winners Neal
Lancaster and Omar Uresti.
