Men's golf squad closes Fall with
No. 9 national ranking

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State men’s golf
squad wrapped up its Fall, 2009 season be moving into
the top 10 in both Golfweek magazine’s national
rankings and the Golfstat national ratings.
The Jaguars, who posted four top-six finishes and took
fourth or better in each their last three events, are
ranked No. 9 in two of intercollegiate golf’s most
respected polls.
ASU began the 2009-10 season in September with a
10th-place finish at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini
Invitational and followed with a sixth-place showing in
the prestigious Gary Koch Intercollegiate.

SAN MARTIN, Calif. -- Augusta State fired the
low round of the day Wednesday -- a 10-under 350 -- and
moved up to a third-place finish in the final round of
the Gifford Collegiate Championship at CordeValle
Country Club. The tourney marked ASU’s final event of
its Fall, 2009 schedule.
Sparked by sophomore Patrick Reed’s 5-under 67, the
11th-ranked Jaguars matched the low round of the
tournament and jumped three places up the leaderboard
for their third consecutive top-five finish. The
10-under 350 also marked ASU’s eighth straight round of
even-par or better.
Reed and Floyd, who posted an even-par 72, led ASU’s
effort with a tie for eighth at 5-under 211. Sophomore
Henrik Norlander tallied a 2-under 70 and his fourth
top-20 finish of the season with a tie for 15th at
3-under 213.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Augusta State booked a
four-under 284 Sunday in the third and final round of
the UNCG Bridgestone Intercollegiate at Forest Oaks
Country Club.
Led by junior Mitch Krywulycz’s career-best finish, a
tie for fourth, the ninth-ranked Jaguars posted a
54-hole total of 10-under 854 (287-283-284) and finished
in fourth place amongst the 15-team field.
Junior Henrik Norlander joined Krywulycz in the top 10,
tying for sixth to give ASU seven top-10 individual
finishes this season.

Turner, Manning and Haas Jr., headed
to second stage

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Former Augusta State men’s
golf standouts Emmett Turner, Major Manning and Jay
Haas, Jr., all advanced through the first stage of the
PGA Tour’s National Qualifying Tournament Saturday at
their respective venues.
In Auburn, Ala., Turner carded a one-under 71 to finish
in a tie for 19th at The Auburn University Club. The top
21 players and ties at the Auburn site advanced to the
second stage. Turner posted a 72-hole total of 1-under
287 (71-73-72-71).(More)
