The 2008 Administaff Augusta State Invitational marks the 30th edition of the tournament ... This year’s event marks the fourth year of Administaff’s affiliation with the event and the third year the tourney has been played at Champions Retreat Golf Club ... This year’s 18-team field matches 2007 for the largest in tourney history ... Of the 18 participating teams, 10 are ranked among the top 31 in the nation in the latest Golfweek and Golfstat magazine rankings, as of Tuesday, Feb. 5 ... Georgia (1st in Golfweek, 1st in Golfstat) is the highest-ranked team in the field ... Other ranked teams include: No. 4/6 Georgia Tech, No. 5/2 UCLA, No. 7/12 Tennessee, No. 17/11 Clemson, No. 19/14 South Carolina, No. 20/26 Lamar, No. 28/25 North Carolina, No. 29/33 East Tennessee State and No. 31/24 Virginia Tech, along with USC Aiken, the No. 10-ranked team in Division II ... Augusta State has won six of the last nine Administaff ASU Invitational titles ... In 2003, the Jaguars set new tournament records for both the lowest team total (820/-44) and individual total (Oliver Wilson -- 199/-17) ... The Jaguars erupted for a final round of 21-under 267, the lowest round in tournament history as well as school history ... In 2005, the 54-hole total of 896 (+32) by Augusta State was the highest winning score in tournament history ... The previous six team champions had finished under par ... Augusta College’s Roger Rowland (1986 and 1988) and North Carolina’s John Inman (1982 and 1983) are the only multiple medalists in tourney history ...
