Former Augusta State men’s golf standouts Emmett Turner, Major Manning and Jay Haas, Jr., all
advanced through the first stage of the PGA Tour’s National Qualifying Tournament Saturday at their respective
venues.
In Auburn, Ala., Turner carded a one-under 71 to finish in a tie for 19th at The Auburn University Club. The top 21
players and ties at the Auburn site advanced to the second stage. Turner posted a 72-hole total of 1-under 287
(71-73-72-71).
At St. Johns Golf and Country Club in St. Augustine, Fla., Manning and Haas, Jr., each registered sub-par rounds to
secure a spot in the second stage. Haas fired a 4-under 68 to tie for sixth at 10-under 278 (69-72-69-68).
Manning rallied with a 4-under 68 of his own to pull into a five-way tie for 18th at 5-under 283 (72-73-70-68). The
top 22 and ties advanced to the second stage from the St. Johns site.
The first stage is being conducted at 13 different sites in seven states from Oct. 20-30. The second stage of Q
School is slated for Nov. 18-21 at six different locations around the nation.
