ASU's Henrik Norlander claims medalist honors with final-round 65

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State caught fire on the back nine once again Sunday, firing a 15-under 273 to claim a wire-to-wire victory in the Administaff Augusta State Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club.

The Jaguars, ranked No. 3 in the nation, set a new school record and tournament record with a 54-hole total of 47-under 817. ASU finished 16 shots ahead of runnerup South Carolina, while Duke, Clemson and Tennessee rounded out the top five.

Georgia Southern took sixth, five shots back of the Volunteers.

The Jags, who collectively were 11-under-par on the back nine, finished 1-2-3 among the individuals. Junior Henrik Norlander claimed medalist honors, matching his low round as a collegian with a seven-under 65 and registering the second-best score in tourney history with a 15-under 201. (More)

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State used a record-setting effort Saturday to bolt to the top of the leaderboard in the Administaff Augusta State Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club.

The No. 3 Jaguars registered rounds of 14-under 274 and 18-under 270 to move out to an eight-shot lead over South Carolina. Tennessee is third, seven shots back of the Gamecocks, while Clemson is fourth and Georgia Southern and Duke own a share of fifth place.

ASU’s 36-hole total of 544 (32-under) broke the previous tournament mark of 25-under 51l, set just last spring by the Jaguars. South Carolina fired a 22-under 266 in the afternoon, breaking the lowest second-round total in the tournament’s 32-year history.
