ASU Finishes Ninth At General Hackler
Freshman Henrik Norlander opens spring with runnerup effort

Henrik NorlanderMURRELLS INLET, S.C -- The Augusta State men’s golf team booked a final round of 305 Monday in the General Jim Hackler Championship at the TPC of Myrtle Beach.

The Jaguars finished in ninth place in the 15-team field at 919 (+55). Freshman Henrik Norlander posted a one-over 73 in the final round and took second place, two shots off the lead with a three-over 219.

Wake Forest fired a four-over 292, rallying from fifth place to overtake four teams and claim a three-shot victory over Florida State. Duke, host Coastal Carolina and Louisville rounded out the top five.

Louisville’s Derek Fathauer, who began the final round four strokes back of Coastal Carolina’s Don Obremski, shot an even-par 72 to claim medalist honors. Nicolas Geyger was third, one shot behind Norlander. Lamar’s Casey Clendenon and Duke’s Michael Schachner tied for fourth.

The Jaguars return to action this weekend when they travel to Statesboro to compete in the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational, hosted by Georgia Southern at Forest Heights Country Club.
