Augusta State posted a seven-over 295 Friday and is tied for eighth through one round of the 29th annual Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational at Forest Heights Country Club.
Sophomore Mitch Krywulycz carded an even-par 72 to pace the Jaguars in a tie for 16th individually. Fellow sophomore Jake Amos posted a one-over 73, followed by Henrik Norlander at 74, Olle Bengtsson at 76 and Janne Kaske at 77.
Eighth-ranked Tennessee holds a three-stroke, first-round lead over Alabama. Among a field of 18 schools, with seven ranked in the nation’s top-25 (Golfweek), the Volunteers scorched FHCC with a six-under 282 to take a three-shot lead over No. 2 Alabama (-3).
Three individuals lead the pack tied for first, including Mark Anderson (South Carolina), Clayton Rotz (LSU) and Zach Sucher (UAB), who each booked a four-under 68 on the day.
Second-round play gets underway Saturday at 8:40 a.m. ASU will be paired with Michigan State and Kentucky and will tee off at 9:00 a.m.
