Augusta State booked an even-par 284 Sunday in the first round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at Bulls Bull Golf Club.
The Jaguars are in second place, four shots off the lead held by 15th-ranked South Carolina, who booked a four-under 280. Tenth-ranked Florida and 14th-ranked Clemson are tied for third, one shot back of ASU. No. 8 Auburn and No. 35 are tied for fifth, two shots behind the Jags.
Senior Keith Guest opened with a three-under 68 and is one stroke off the individual lead held by Lamar’s Justin Harding. Wake Forest All-American Webb Simpson is tied with Guest for second, while North Carolina State’s Andrew Byrd, Clemson’s Phillip Mollica and Mark Silvers of South Carolina are tied for fourth at two-under 69.
ASU sophomore Mitch Krywulycz is tied for 16th after tallying an even-par 71. Freshman Henrik Norlander booked a one-over 72 and is tied for 22nd, while sophomore Jake Amos signed for a two-over and is tied for 34th. Junior Tarik Can posted a three-over 74 and is tied for 43rd.
The three-day, 54-hole event continues with the second round Monday. Can will lead off at 10:00 a.m. off the 10th tee for ASU, which is slated to be paired with Duke and LSU.
