Turner Advances At Q School
Former Augusta State standout headed to PGA Tour's second stage

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Former Augusta State standout Emmett Turner advanced to the second stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament (better known as “Q School”) Saturday at Florence Country Club in Florence, S.C.

A two-time All-American for the Jaguars in 2003 and 2005, Turner fired a final-round 64, including a back-nine 29, to finish at three-under 277 (72-70-71-64).

Turner’s former teammates Scott Jamieson and Jay Haas, Jr., were unable to advance. Jamieson posted a two-over 282 (69-70-71-72) and tied for 52nd and Haas, Jr., tied for 68th at 11-over 291 (73-69-72-77).

Fellow former Jaguar Major Manning will make his first attempt at qualifying for the PGA Tour when he competes in the first stage of Q School on Oct. 31-Nov. 3 at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Ga.

The second stage of Q-School will be held Nov. 14-17 at six sites across the country. Those making it out of the second stage will compete in the six-day, 108-hole final stage at Orange County National Golf Center in Winter Garden, Fla., just outside of Orlando.
