AUGUSTA, Ga.-- The Augusta State men’s tennis team dominated a dual match against the Erskine Flying Fleet on Thursday, Feb. 16, picking up an 8-1 victory.

Lindy Blount of ASU (4-2) defeated Billy Lambon 7-6, 4-6 (10-8) to claim the top singles spot, and the team of Harry Hahn and Frederico Mendes won the doubles top seed 9-8 over Lambon and John Jayakumar. The only victory for Erskine came in the singles third position, where Jayakumar won 7-6, 3-6 (10-8) over Harry Hahn.

For the women, the Fleet won eight of nine matches to defeat the Jags 8-1. The only victory for ASU (3-2) came in the singles second seed, where Sarah Jegat defeated Ellen Dawson in two sets, 6-1, 6-4.

The ASU women will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 19, when they challenge Barton at Newman Tennis Center in Augusta, Ga. Both teams will hit the court on Monday, Feb. 20, when they take on Georgia College and State for the Jags’ first Peach Belt competition of the season. The match is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Newman Tennis Center.
