WINGATE, N.C. -- The Augusta State men’s and women’s tennis teams both picked up wins on the road on Sunday, March 12, when they traveled to Wingate, N.C., to take on the Wingate Bulldogs.

In the men’s competition, the Jaguars (10-5) swept both the singles and the doubles contests for a 9-0 win. Lindy Blount took the top singles spot 6-2, 6-1 over Christoph Voelkel, and Frederico Mendes and Harry Hahn defeated Brandon Thornton and Jose Valarezo 8-3 to claim the doubles top seed.

On the women’s court, the Jags (8-6) topped the Wingate women 6-3. Nathalia Rodrigues pushed past Alexis McDaniel in the singles top position for a 6-1, 6-4 win, and Rodrigues and Norma Rovira teamed up to defeat McDaniel and Sydney Pallesen 8-4 in the top doubles seed. All three of Wingate’s wins were won by default.
