PEMBROKE, N.C.-- The Augusta State Jaguars took two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches
to defeat UNC Pembroke 6-3 in women’s tennis action Tuesday afternoon. With the victory, ASU improves to 9-6
overall and 1-4 in the Peach Belt, while the Lady Braves fall to 10-4 on the year and 1-3 in league play.
After losing the top doubles match 8-2, the Jags rebounded to take the final two doubles contests and the top three spots on the singles court, as well as the number six singles position.
Nathalia Rodrigues defeated Stacey Wood 6-3, 6-4 to claim top honors in the singles competition, and Sarah Jegat and Norma Rovira took the two and three spots, respectively, in straight sets. The sixth position went to Jeaneen Brester.
Both the ASU men’s and women’s tennis teams travel to Florence, S.C., on March 15 to take on Francis Marion. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
