AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State men’s and women’s tennis teams both defeated Abraham Baldwin in dual matches at Newman Tennis Center on Saturday, March 25.

Despite losing the top three singles positions and the top doubles position, the ASU men (12-7) pulled off a 5-4 win over ABAC. The winners for ASU in singles action included Arthur Figueiro (6-0, 1-6, 6-1), Harry Hahn (6-3, 7-5) and Frederico Mendes (6-4, 1-6, 6-4). On the doubles court, Hahn and Victor Meza teamed to take the second spot (8-6), and Figueiro and Lindy Blount took the third position (8-5).

The ASU women (11-8) dominated their match to win 7-2, with ABAC’s only wins coming in the singles fourth position and the doubles second position. Nathalia Rodrigues defeated Kelli Helms 6-2, 6-4 to take the No. 1 singles match, and Rodrigues and Norma Rovira claimed top honors on the doubles court, defeating Bianca Rugimbana and Whitney Lightfoot 8-1.
