| No. 35 ASU women's tennis squad to face USC Upstate in Mid-Atlantic Regional |

AUGUSTA, Ga. --
The Augusta State women’s tennis team was one of six Peach Belt Conference women’s tennis teams selected Wednesday to compete for the national championship as the NCAA released the 64-team bracket.
The Lady Jaguars, ranked No. 35 in the nation, will face USC Upstate in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in Columbus, Ga. Armstrong Atlantic State and Columbus State will both serve as hosts for the Mid-Atlantic Regional championships May 3-5 or 4-6.
Francis Marion and GCSU will play in Savannah while USC Upstate and Augusta State will play in Columbus, while CIAA automatic bid winner Fayetteville State and CVAC winner Erskine round out the eight-team regional.
Armstrong Atlantic State ran through the 2007 season with an undefeated 25-0 record. The Lady Pirates, 2005 National Champions, won both the PBC regular season and tournament championships this year. Ranked #2 in the nation, AASU will face Fayetteville State in the first round. Francis Marion will take on GCSU in the other first-round matchup.
Columbus State finished third in the PBC regular-season standings but reached the finals of the PBC Tournament last week in Augusta. Ranked #8 in the nation, the Lady Cougars will meet Erskine in the first round of the regional while USC Upstate will face Augusta State in the other match.
The first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be played at 16 regional sites. Those 16 winners will advance to the national finals May 9-12 at Sanlando Park in Atlamonte Springs, Fla.
