ASU Netters Ranked Nationally
Jaguar men's and women's tennis programs both finish among top 32

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State men’s and women’s tennis programs each finished their 2006-07 seasons ranked among the top 32 teams in the nation.

Under the guidance of head coach Michael McGrath, the Lady Jaguars finished with a No. 32 national ranking, posting a 15-10 record and a 10-win improvement over their 2006 total. ASU advanced to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in Columbus, Ga., the fourth time in the last seven seasons the Lady Jags have advanced to NCAA postseason play.

The ASU men’s tennis squad, which finished with a No. 23 national ranking, tallied a 17-7 record during the 2006-07 season and also advanced to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional in Savannah, Ga.

The Jaguars won their first NCAA postseason match since 1997 when they picked up a regional victory over USC Aiken and advanced to the semifinals.

McGrath was also recently named the women’s tennis Wilson/ITA Coach Of The Year for the Mid-Atlantic Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
