Augusta State’s Sergi Mullor was named to the Peach Belt Conference’s Men’s Tennis All-Tournament Team Thursday. The PBC announced the 2008 all-conference squad at a banquet in Savannah, Ga., site of this weekend’s PBC Tournament.
A sophomore from Barcelona, Spain, Mullor helped lead ASU to a 14-7 overall record and a No. 31 national ranking. Mullor enjoyed a stellar season, compiling an 18-3 overall singles record and a 6-2 mark in conference play, all from the No. 1 singles position. In doubles play, Mullor was equally impressive, posting a 16-4 overall record and 6-2 league mark, respectively. Entering the PBC Tournament, Mullor was ranked 13th in the nation in singles.
Georgia College & State’s Erick Siqueira was named Player-of-the-Year while Armstrong Atlantic State’s Tim Johannsen was tabbed the league’s Freshman-of-the-Year. AASU head coach Simon Earnshaw earned PBC Coach-of-the-Year honors.
The Jaguars, the No. 7 seed, open up PBC Tournament play on Friday at 3:00 p.m. vs. second-seeded Lander.
The 2008 PBC All-Conference team is listed below as selected by the league’s head coaches. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own players.
