SAVANNAH, Ga. -- The Augusta State men’s and women’s tennis squads each won in their consolation matches at the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, April 19, hosted at Armstrong Atlantic State University.

For the women, the #26 ranked Jaguars downed the USC Aiken Pacers 5-1 in the second round consolation match. In singles, Fernanfa Chiaparini downed Mathilde Grenet 6-1, 6-1, and Bianca Machado and Camila Correa also picked up wins. In doubles, team Fernanda Chiaparini/Nathalia Rodrigues and Laura Ferreira/Bianca Machado each won their matches to add to the Jaguars victory over the Pacers.

The Lady Jags will now advance to the fifth place consolation match where they will take on Georgia College and State University. The match is set for Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

For the men, the #31 Jaguars downed the #25 Pacers 5-3. ASU took the singles 4-0, with wins from Sergi Mullor, Arthur Figueiro, Frederico Mendes, and Guilherme Ferraz. In doubles, Arthur Figueiro and Sergi Mullor picked up the only win for the Jags sealing the match over the Pacers.

ASU will continue to the fifth place consolation match tomorrow where they will take on Francis Marion at 2:00 p.m.
