The Augusta State Jaguars split with Adelphi
University Tuesday afternoon in non-conference doubleheader action at
Jaguar Field.
In game one, Adelphi University plated two runs in the top of the first to take the lead 2-0 and booked another run in the third inning off of a bunt play. The Jags tried for a comeback but the Panthers held them off clinching the winning 3-0.
Adelphi's Julie Schaper earned the win pitching seven innings only giving up three hits. The Jags' Amy Dumas received the loss booking ten strikeouts.
In game two, a single from Ashley Roberts drove in Leann Barber in the first inning to put the Jags on the board, 1-0. Adelphi's Jessica Vogt hit a double in the third inning that brought in Kristin Brennan and Dely Francisco to bring the score to 2-1.
In the fourth inning Amy Dumas plated a run to tie up the score followed by an RBI from Angii Verbeelen and Amber Hunt to take the win for the Jags, 4-2.
Kimberly Kennedy booked the win for the Jags pitching 3.2 innings and striking out six. The Panthers Leighann Bell received the loss allowing four hits and one run.
The Jags will return to play this weekend when they host Davis & Elkins Sunday, Mar. 16 at Jaguar Field. The first pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
