ASU To Host Cancer Awareness Day
Jaguar softball squad to honor cancer survivors

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta State head softball coach Melissa Mullins announced Monday that the Jaguar softball squad will hold the first annual Cancer Awareness Day. The event will take place during ASU’s doubleheader with Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Jaguar Field.

"We are very much appreciative to have the Georgia Southwestern softball team and coaches participate in this event as we hope to do our part in fighting the battle," Mullins said. “We are excited to be helping out in the fight against cancer. We hope that this day will honor those who have fought or are still fighting the disease. We especially want to raise awareness for childhood cancer."

As part of the doubleheader, ASU will wear gold jerseys to represent childhood cancer. The Jaguar softball squad collected donations throughout the ASU women’s and men’s basketball seasons, and has designated MCG Children’s Hospital as the recipient of the donations.

The Jaguars, who currently sport a 21-7 overall record and 2-4 mark in Peach Belt Conference play, began the season 8-0 and have won 10 of their last 11 games since March. 1
