PEMBROKE, N.C. -
Augusta State traveled to Pembroke, N.C. Friday afternoon
for a Peach Belt Conference match up. The Braves downed the Jags 6-1 in
game one and 4-1 in game two.
In game one, the Braves rallied in the second inning on an RBI single to score Morgan Patrick.
Brittany Berrier followed with a
two-run double driving in Samantha King and Katie Linkous. Anna
Williamson finished out the inning for the Braves with a two-run single
down the left field line.
The Braves put another run on the board in the sixth inning with
another RBI from Berrier putting them up 6-0.
The Jags got on
the board in the seventh inning with an RBI single from Kayla Hicks,
but that wasn’t enough as the Braves went on to win, 6-1.
The Braves' Martika Elmore earned the win pitching all seven innings with 10 strikeouts and only three hits. The Jags' Jennifer Miller received the loss.
In game two, UNC Pembroke scored a run in the first inning with an RBI from Candace Evans. The Jags answered back in the second with an RBI from Hicks driving in Anna Tedder to tie up the score.
UNC Pembroke pulled away in the third with an RBI from Evans, followed by an an RBI from Berrier in the fourth and an RBI single by Morgan Patrick in the fifth to make the score 4-1.
Evans earned the win for UNC Pembroke only allowing four hits with two strikeouts. The Jags' Jacklyn Benenhaley received the loss.
The Jags are back in action Tuesday, Mar.25, at 1:00 p.m. when they host North Georgia for another Peach Belt Conference match up.
