| Jaguars blank Queens on Senior Day |

Augusta State celebrated Senior Day Tuesday afternoon with a non-conference doubleheader sweep over Queens at Jaguar Field.
ASU (27-17) allowed only eight hits and did not surrender a run to the Royals in 13 innings. The Jags won the first game 4-0 and needed only five innings to top Queens 8-0 in the second game.
Senior hurlers Jacklyn Benenhaley and Amy Dumas each recorded wins for the Jags. Benenhaley (8-4) gave up five hits in seven innings in the opener with four strikeouts and a walk. Dumas (10-5) yielded just three hits in five innings and struck out five with a walk.
Senior shortstop Anna Tedder paced ASU offensively with a 5-for-6 afternoon, including 3-for-3 in the second game, and scored four runs as well. Senior catcher Ashley Roberts went 2-for-3 in each game and drove in six of the Jags’ 12 runs on the afternoon.
No player for Queens had more than one hit in either game.
Prior to the opener of the twinbill, ASU celebrated the accomplishments of eight seniors, including Tedder, Roberts, Benenhaley, Dumas, outfielders Jessie Sadlowsky and Anna Cheely, first baseman Amber Hunt and designated player Leigh Robbins.
The Jags will now turn their attention to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament, slated for Friday-Sunday, April 18-20 in Florence, S.C. and hosted by Francis Marion.
