Howard Earns PBC Honor
ASU sophomore named league's Player of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State’s Jessica Howard was named the Peach Belt Conference’s Player of the Week Monday afternoon, according to an announcement from the league office.

Howard, a sophomore middle blocker from Athens, Ga., averaged 4.18 kills per game and posted a .347 hitting percentage in three matches last week. She began with 12 kills against Anderson in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 17, then notched 13 kills against Lander on Friday, Oct. 19 and matched her season high with 21 kills vs. UNC Pembroke on Saturday.

Howard had only 12 attack errors on 97 attacks and added 12 total blocks, including four solo blocks against both Lander and UNC Pembroke.

She currently ranks second in the PBC in blocks, fourth in kills, and fifth in hitting percentage.

ASU (14-15, 1-5 PBC), which has already posted its winningest season since 2003, continues its six-match homestand with a PBC tilt vs. Francis Marion on Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 7:00 p.m. in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars host Armstrong Atlantic State on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:00 p.m. and close out their home schedule on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 1:00 p.m. in a non-conference matchup with St. Andrews.
