ASU's Zappitell Honored By PBC
Freshman setter named league's Specialist-of-the-Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State’s Ashley Zappitell was named the Peach Belt Conference’s Specialist-of-the-Week Monday afternoon, according to a release from the league office.

A freshman setter from Utica, Mich., Zappitell helped lead ASU to a 1-2 record in three key conference matches last week. She averaged 10.92 assists and 2.07 digs in a victory over USC Aiken and losses to Armstrong Atlantic State and Lander.

Zappitelll began with 40 assists and 13 digs against Armstrong Atlantic State then set a season-high with 55 assists and six digs in a 3-2 win over USC Aiken. She finished the week with 47 assists and eight digs against Lander. The 55 assists against USCA marked the fifth-highest, single-game total in the PBC this year. She currently ranks fourth in the PBC in assists at 7.81 apg.

ASU returns to action in the PBC Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 15 in Pembroke, N.C. The Jaguars will compete as the No. 5 seed and will take on fourth-seeded USC Aiken at 1:00 p.m., Saturday. ASU downed the Pacers 3-2 on Friday, Nov. 7.
