AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta State’s Jessica Howard was named to the Daktronics NCAA Southeast Region All-Region squad Tuesday, according to an announcement from Daktronics, Inc., and CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

Howard, who recently led the Jaguars to the second-winningest season in school history (22-12) was a first-team, all-region selection. Members named to the first team are eligible for All-American consideration. The Daktronics All-Region squads are voted on by the sports information directors within the Southeast Region. The Southeast Region is comprised of the institutions within Conference Carolinas, the South Atlantic Conference and the Peach Belt Conference.

A senior from Athens, Ga., Howard became the first ASU player to earn Peach Belt Conference Player-of-the-Year honors on Nov. 15. She led the PBC in kills with 524 (4.09 kpg.) and in blocks with 139 (1.09 bpg.) and ranked third in hitting percentage (.318).

A two-time PBC Player-of-the-Week selection in 2009, Howard registered a season-high and career-high 26 kills at USC Aiken on Oct. 1. She posted double-digit kills in 29 matches, including the last 17 in a row, and eclipsed the 20-kill mark eight times, including five times in conference play. In her career, she amassed 1,803 career kills and 548 career blocks. Both figures rank third all-time in PBC annals.
