Jaguars Add Raiford
Tennessee State transfer to join ASU Volleyball program

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta State head volleyball coach Sharon Bonaventure announced Monday the addition of Christina Raiford to the Jaguar Volleyball program.

A 5-10 middle hitter from Alpharetta, Ga., in metro-Atlanta, Raiford comes to ASU from Tennessee State University where she spent two seasons in the Tigers’ volleyball program. She began her collegiate career at Georgia Southern in 2007, playing one year for the Eagles.

Raiford will be required to sit out the 2010 season in accordance with NCAA transfer rules. She will have one season of eligibility remaining for the 2011 campaign.

“We are looking forward to having Christina becoming a member of our program and our family,” said Bonaventure. “Along with her athleticism and versatility, she brings a wealth of knowledge about the game with her. She will be training with us and learning our system this season and we expect her to make in impact within our program.”

As a high-school senior, Raiford helped lead the Chattahoochee High Cougars to the Sweet 16 in the state tournament and to a runnerup finish in Region 6-AAAAA. She played club volleyball with current Jaguar Lagi Roberts on the Tsunami 18-1 Black club team.
