AUGUSTA, Ga. - Nesha Smith has been named to the Augusta State women’s basketball coaching staff, according to an announcement Thursday from Lady Jaguar head coach Nate Teymer.

A four-year starter and team captain at Stetson University in DeLand, Fla., Smith scored 1,042 career points for the Hatters. One of only three women’s players in Stetson history with 1,000 career points and 400 career assists, Smith ranks ninth in Atlantic Sun history in steals and 11th in A-Sun history in assists. AUGUSTA, Ga. - Augusta State head women’s basketball coach Nate Teymer has finalized his initial recruiting class.

Teymer (pronounced TEE-mer), who was appointed the eighth head coach in program history on April 1, announced his eight-player signing class on Tuesday. (MORE)

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Nate Teymer has been appointed the new head coach of the Augusta State Women’s Basketball program, according to an announcement from ASU Director of Athletics Clint Bryant Thursday afternoon.

Teymer (TEE-mer) was introduced as the eighth head coach in the program’s 36-year history during a 2:00 p.m., press conference in The Towers inside Washington Hall on the main campus of Augusta State University.

The former head coach of Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Ga., Teymer spent five seasons at the helm of the Lady Hornets’ program. (MORE) (Photos)
 

Lady Jags Fall To No. 10 Lander
Lady Bearcats defeat ASU on Senior Night, 63-56

AUGUSTA, Ga. - No. 10 Lander held off Augusta State, 63-56 on Saturday in a Peach Belt Conference matchup on Senior Night in Christenberry Fieldhouse. The loss also ended the Lady Jaguars 2010 season.

With the win, Lander improved to 24-2 on the season and 17-1 in the conference, while the loss dropped the Lady Jags to 1-26 overall and 0-17 in the league.

Junior guard Blaire Egardo paced the Lady Jags with a team-high 16 points, while senior Kirsten Stallings added 13 points and snagged seven rebounds. Senior Eboni Davis tallied nine assists, seven rebounds and booked six points. (MORE)
