MORGANTON, N.C. -- Amidst wintry conditions including sporadic snow showers and a steady wind, Augusta State edged Elon by one stroke Tuesday to win the 2009 Mimosa Hills Women’s Intercollegiate team championship.

 

Danielle Mills of Elon took home individual medalist honors, nipping first-round leader Julia Stalbro from Augusta State by a stroke at the par-72, 5,869-yard Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club. (More) (Photos)

 

Lady Jags Finish Fifth
Senior Emilie Geury posts team-best tie for ninth

WALLACE, N.C. -- Augusta State booked a final-round 314 Tuesday and took fifth place in the ninth UNCW Lady Seahawk Classic at River Landing Golf Club.

 

Senior Emilie Geury carded a five-over 77 and paced the Lady Jaguars with a tie for ninth. Freshman Julia Stalbro posted a 79 and tied for 16th, her first top-20 effort of her collegiate career. Senior Mary Betancourt tied for 30th while juniors Tamara Luccioli and Sarah Mooney tied for 38th and 47th, respectively. (More)

 

Pinehurst Event Cancelled
Weather, unplayable conditions keeps ASU off course

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Pinehurst Challenge, originally slated for March 2-3 at Pinehurst No. 6, in Pinehurst, N.C., was cancelled due to inclement weather. The Augusta State women's golf team, as well as 19 other teams, was scheduled to participate in the two-day, 36-hole event.

 

Tournament officials were forced to make the decision to cancel the event after snow and ice blanketed the area on Sunday evening, March 1. It was determined that the course would not be playable on Monday, March 2 with temperatures hovering all day around freezing and no chance for the snow and ice to melt. (More)
