Lady Jags To Make Spring Debut
Women's golf begins play Friday in Lady Gator Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State opens its 2008 spring schedule Friday morning when the Lady Jaguars tee off in the first round of the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational at Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.

ASU will be playing in its first event under the watch of head coach Lauren Smith, who took over the program on Jan. 10. The Lady Jags are coming off a strong fall season that included two runnerup showings and three top-five finishes.

Fifth-ranked Florida, the tourney host and two-time defending champion, headlines the 16-team field that includes three top-30 and six top-40 ranked teams. Chattanooga, Colorado, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia State, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Oregon, South Florida, UNC Greensboro and Wake Forest round out the field. The three-day, 54-hole event begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday off the first and 10th tees.

The Lady Jags, who will be paired with Colorado and Florida Atlantic, will send out a lineup that includes senior Kristen Bragg, juniors Emilie Geury and Anna Lindeborg and sophomores Sarah Mooney and Tamara Luccioli. Mooney leads ASU out on the course at 8:57 a.m., followed by Bragg at 9:06, Geury at 9:15, Luccioli at 9:24 and Lindeborg at 9:33.
