PINEHURST, N.C. -- Augusta State turned in the third-lowest final round Tuesday and finished in third place in the Pinehurst Challenge at Pinehurst Resort’s No. 8 course

Sophomore Sarah Mooney fashioned the low round of the day for the Lady Jaguars with a one-over 73. Junior Emilie Geury posted ASU’s best 54-hole finish with a tie for 10th at 229. Sophomore Tamara Luccioli tied for 23rd at 231, while senior Kristen Bragg finished a shot back in a tie for 27th at 232. Mooney moved from 70th place into a tie for 37th and junior Anna Lindeborg tied for 43rd at 237.

East Carolina fired the low round of the day and cruised to a 10-shot victory over East Tennessee State. The Lady Buccaneers bested ASU four shots, while Georgia State, Oregon State and UNC Greensboro tied for fourth.

College of Charleston’s Steffi Kirchmayr fired a three-under 69 for a one-over 217 and a four-shot victory over Emelie Lind of East Carolina. Chattanooga’s Emme deGroot took third while ETSU’s Laura Janson and Oregon State’s Martha Burkard tied for fourth at 225 (+9).

ASU returns to action next weekend when the Lady Jags compete in the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic at The University Club in Baton Rouge, La.
