Junior Geury leads ASU with first-round 78

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Augusta State shot a 317 Friday and is in 17th place after the first round of the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic at The University Club.

Junior Emilie Geury led the Lady Jaguars with a 78 and is tied for 46th place. Anna Lindeborg and Tamara Luccioli signed for a pair of 79’s, Kristen Bragg had an 81 and Sarah Mooney turned in an 89.

Florida State carded a five-over 293 to jump out to a seven-shot lead over host LSU and Wake Forest. Louisville is fourth while Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and Central Florida make up a four-way tie for fifth.

FSU’s Whitney Wright and Wake Forest’s Laura Crawford managed a pair of two-under 70’s and are tied for first place individually.

Mooney will lead ASU out on the course in the second round Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. Eastern. The Lady Jags will be paired with Alabama and Ole Miss.
