Field Set For Lady Jag Invite
Augusta State looking to better runnerup finish in 2006

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- After a runnerup finish in 2006 in the second year of its own tournament, Augusta State is looking to climb one notch higher in the America ’s Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invitational presented by Administaff and Georgia Pain Specialists.

The Lady Jaguars, currently ranked No. 37 in the nation, and Forest Hills Golf Club will play host to the two-day event beginning on Saturday morning, Oct. 13. The tournament’s activities actually get underway on Thursday, Oct. 11 with a junior clinic at the ASU Golf House and practice facility. The clinic is slated to get underway at 5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

“We’ve got a really solid field for the third straight year and Forest Hills has never looked better,” said second-year Lady Jaguar head coach Laura Coble. “The course is really in excellent tournament shape and we know the ladies will be tested and challenged all weekend long. (General Manager/Head Professional) David Usry and (Course Superintendent) Darren Davenport have done a tremendous job getting Forest Hills ready for tournament play and we know it will be a tough but fair test.”

The tournament features a two-day, 36-hole format, with 18 holes each day on Saturday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 14. Play will begin each morning at 8:30 a.m., with a split-tee start slated for Saturday and a shotgun start scheduled for Sunday. Practice rounds are available to the teams on Friday morning beginning at 8:00 a.m., with the College-Am set to tee off at 1:00 p.m.

The Lady Panthers posted a two-round total of 606 (+30) last year to best the Lady Jaguars by nine shots.
