Lady Jaguars On Top
Sophomore Luccioli, junior Geury pace Augusta State

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State sophomore Tamara Luccioli posted an even-par 72 Saturday to take a one-shot lead over teammate Emilie Geury in the first round of the America’s Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invitational presented by Administaff and Georgia Pain Specialists at Forest Hills Golf Club.

The Lady Jaguars, ranked 39th in the nation, tallied a 14-over 302 to take a two-shot lead over defending champion Georgia State. ASU junior Geury paced the squad with a one-over 73, good for second place while sophomore Sarah Mooney booked a three-over 75 to stand alone in fourth. Junior Anna Lindeborg managed a four-over 76, giving ASU four players in the top 10 with her tie for fifth.

Iliska Verway recorded a two-over 74 to pace Georgia State in third place. The Lady Panthers’ Claire Starkie moved into a three-way tie for fifth at four-over 76 with Lindeborg and Mercer’s Anna Rogers, while Sandra Maier, Cathrine Madsen and Anna Scott are all tied for eighth at five-over 77.

ASU senior Kristen Bragg and junior Mary Betancourt are 13th and 15th after signing for a 76 and 79, respectively.

Playing as an individual, Luccioli stood at two-over par through eight holes before recording her first birdie of the day at the par-five ninth. She then parred seven straight holes before a birdie at the par-five 17th pulled her even on the day.

The second and final round of the America’s Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invitational gets underway Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ASU will be paired with Georgia State and Mercer.
