Senior Emilie Geury tied for 19th

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- Augusta State booked a 315 Sunday in the first round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic, being contested at both Cougar Point and Oak Point Golf Clubs.

The event, featuring 215 players, is the largest women's collegiate event in the country. Of the 43 teams participating in the tournament, 21 are currently in the top 100 by Golfweek magazine.

Senior Emilie Geury led ASU with a three-over 75 and is tied for 19th. Junior Sarah Mooney is tied for 35th after a five-over 77. Freshman Julia Stalbro signed for a 79 and is tied for 64th. Junior Tamara Luccioli is tied for 139th following an 84 (+12). Senior Anna Lindeborg had the Lady Jags’ non-counting score.

Miami and East Tennessee State each posted a 12-over 300 to share the first-round lead. Oral Roberts combined for a 303 and is third and Mississippi is fourth after a 305. Western Carolina and Central Florida each turned in rounds of 306 and are tied for fifth.

UCF's Stephanie Connelly fired a two-under 70 to grab a two-shot lead over Nebraska's Mary Kate Bird, UNC WIlmington's Sofia Hagsund and Miami's Begona Sarabia.

Playing in foursomes for Monday’s second round, ASU will be paired with Middle Tennessee State, Texas State and Western Carolina. Lindeborg will lead the Lady Jags out on the Oak Point layout at 9:41 a.m., followed by Luccioli at 9:52, Stalbro at 10:03, Mooney at 10:14 and Geury at 10:25.
