Augusta State shot an 8-over 288 Tuesday in the third and final round of the Challenge at Onion Creek and finished in sixth place at Onion Creek Club.
The tournament closed out the Fall, 2009 schedule for the Lady Jaguars, who finished just a single stroke out of fifth place and only four shots back of third.
Freshman Natalie Wille (73-71-69) posted a 1-under 69 and senior Sarah Mooney (70-73-70) carded an even-par 70 to share 10th place at 3-over 213. Freshman Jordyn Hage (74-72-74) managed a 74 and tied for 49th while senior Tamara Luccioli (75-76-75) signed for a 75 and sophomore Julia Stalbro (70-76-77) turned in a 77. Stalbro tied for 68th and Luccioli tied for 80th.
Texas A&M, the 24th-ranked team in the nation, booked a 2-under 278 and claimed a three-shot victory over San Francisco. Texas State, No. 29 Texas and Indiana rounded out the top five. The field featured six teams ranked in the top 50 in the nation.
Julia Boland tallied a 1-under 69 and claimed medalist honors by one stroke over teammate Ashley Freeman. San Francisco’s Tinna Johannsdottir was third, followed by Texas State’s Krista Puisite and USF’s Christina Stockton.
