AUGUSTA,
Ga. -- Kirsty Rands has agreed to join the Augusta State women’s golf program, according to an announcement Tuesday from Lady Jaguar women’s golf coach Kevin McPherson.
Rands will be transferring into the Lady Jaguar program by way of Ole Miss. In two seasons as a member of the Lady Rebel squad in Oxford, Miss., she posted an 80.6 stroke average over 14 rounds, with a low round of 75. Her best finish for Ole Miss was a 42nd-place effort in the Rebel Intercollegiate in March of 2008.
A junior who will have two years of eligibility remaining, Rands is originally from Surrey, England. She made the cut in the 2008 Portuguese Amateur and placed in the top five in a pair of English Order of Merit events -- third at the Hampshire Rose and fourth in the Harper Salver.
“Kirsty is a talented player who no doubt has her best golf still in front of her,” McPherson said. “She promises to be a great addition to our program. Kirsty has an excellent amateur resume and we expect her to make an immediate impact.”
The Lady Jags, who recently completed their second season under McPherson, narrowly missed an at-large bid to the NCAA Regionals in 2009-10. ASU recorded five top-5 finishes, including a runnerup finish in the Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate in March at Forest Hills Golf Club.
