AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State senior Amanda Smith shot an even-par 72 and claimed medalist honors Tuesday in the America’s Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invitational presented by Georgia Pain Specialists, LLC, at Forest Hills Golf Club.

Smith, who began the final round trailing Georgia State’s Joanna Klatten by a single shot, birdied the 347-yard, par-four 15th hole to take a one-shot lead and parred out on the final three holes for her first career victory.

“I’ve never won a tournament in golf, so this is a pretty cool feeling,” said Smith. “I just played real steady on the back nine and didn’t want to give any shots away. I hit another good drive on 15 (just like yesterday when I made eagle). I had 110 (yards) to the pin and just choked down on a pitching wedge and hit a good one in there and knocked the putt in. I knew I was in a good position and that pars were a real good score on the back nine.” (Full Story) (Photos)

AUGUSTA, Ga. --  Georgia State booked a first round of 15-over 303 Monday at Forest Hills Golf Club to take a five-shot lead over host Augusta State in the America’s Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invitational presented by Georgia Pain Specialists, LLC.

Sparked by Joanna Klatten’s low round of the day, the Lady Panthers own an eight-shot advantage over East Carolina and are 14 strokes clear of fourth-place Memphis. Klatten carded a one-over 73 to take a one-shot lead over Augusta State senior Amanda Smith and Memphis’ Dawn-Marie Conaty.

ASU freshman Sarah Mooney, making her first collegiate start and playing as an individual, turned in a three-over 75 and is tied for fourth with East Carolina’s Ana Maria Puche. (Full Story) (Photos)
