Lady Jaguars On Top In Home Event
Senior Lauren Smith takes three-shot lead in America's Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invite

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State posted a 14-over 302 Monday to take the first-round lead over Notre Dame in the America’s Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invitational at Forest Hills Golf Club.

The Lady Jaguars, seeking their third straight tournament title this fall, own an eight-shot advantage over the Fighting Irish, while Arkansas State is 12 shots off the pace. East Tennessee State and Florida International round out the top five.

Senior Lauren Smith fired a one-under 71, her best round of the season, to take a three-shot lead in the individual race. Four Lady Jaguars are among the top 10, and six Lady Jags rank in the top 20 overall.

ASU junior Amanda Smith posted a three-over 75 and is tied for fourth, while freshman Emilie Geury and sophomore Garrett Phillips are both tied for 10th. Junior Patti Hogeboom and sophomore Kristen Bragg -- each playing as individuals -- are tied for eighth and 16th, respectively. Freshman Anna Lindeborg, making her collegiate debut in the ASU lineup, turned in an 88.

Notre Dame’s Noriko Nakazaki is tied for second place with Arkansas State’s Candace Pasechnik. ASU’s Smith is tied with Jacksonville State’s Mercedes Huarte in fourth and Notre Dame’s Katie Brophy and Alyson Mitchell of Birmingham-Southern are tied for sixth after a pair of four-over 76’s.
