| Lady Jags serve up superior performance at Newman Collegiate Invitational |

AUGUSTA, Ga. --
The Augusta State women’s tennis team outplayed the pack with a total of four final match wins in the Newman Collegiate Invitational at the Newman Tennis Center . The three-day tournament
featured teams from Newberry, Limestone, USC Aiken, Wingate, Queens and Georgia College and State.
In singles play, Fernanda Chiaparini defeated Alexander Gade of Limestone for the Flight 2 singles title, edging her 6-1, 6-0. Bianca Machado brought in Flight 4 (def. Josephine Gade of Limestone 6-3, 6-2), Camila Correa in Flight 5 (def. Sodedad Angel of USC Aiken 6-2, 3-6, 6-3) and Luiza Pires in Flight 6 (def. Jen Bahrman of Limestone 6-3, 6-4).
In Flight 1, Nathalia Rodrigues made her way into the finals but fell to Kristen Hunter of USC Aiken 7-5, 6-2. Also advancing to the finals was Lauren Ferreira who was defeated by Eve Aubry of Limestone for the Flight 3 title, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6
In doubles, the Jags advanced to the final round in two flights. Chiaparini and Rodrigues captured the Flight 1 title, downing Powell and Rock of Queens 9-7. The pair of Ferreira and Machado enountered a final round defeat by the team of Aubry and Gade of Limestone 8-4.
This tournament registered the Jags final match of the fall season. The ladies will be back on the court on Feb 1, when they host Wingate at the Newman Tennis Center .
